Count-In to start in time! The Count-In feature provides visual and audible cues to start in time with the music anywhere in the song. Count-In is included in Anytune’s Playback Options.
Change Playback Behaviour
Playback behavior can be modified to provide a Count-in, Delayed Start, Fade-in/out, or Tap-in. You can adjust the behavior of the Play button in two ways.
You can initiate Playback options by long pressing or right-clicking the play button to reveal one-time playback options. Select your preferred playback option for one time, leaving normal play/pause operation for the play button.
You can also change the default behavior of the Play button in Anytune Settings > Playback Options so that selecting the play button always initiates your preference.
To Set Your Preferences:
- Long press or right-click the play button to reveal the Play options menu.
- Choose one of the top Actions to initiate a Count-In, Delayed Play, Tap-In, or Fade-In.
- You can choose “Playback Settings…” or “Play options” from this menu to quickly go to Playback Settings instead of going to Anytune Settings > Playback Settings.
- You can also switch to Transcribe mode which overrides playback behavior.
Playback Settings
You can choose between Count-In or Delayed Play. Delayed Play provides a countdown in seconds. Count-In matches the tempo of the song and uses the time signature to provide visual and audible cues in time with the music.
- Choose Count-In or Delayed Play.
- Enable or disable to make your chosen playback option active when the play button is used.
- Leave it disabled and choose Delayed Play from the Play options menu to retain normal play button operation.
- Select the number of bars (for Count-In) or the number of seconds (for Delayed Play).
- Bars start at 0/1 to allow you to Tap-In in time with the music directly in time with your taps/clicks.
- Enable the “Count-In Sound” to provide tick-tock clicks for each beat in the count-in.
Count-In
Anytune uses the song's BPM and the time signature (you choose) to display and play a count-down to playback in time with the music. Your Count-In can match complex time signatures like 5/4 (3+2). The Count-In matches the tempo of the song.
Edit time signature and BPM

On iPhone/iPad: Tap the song title bar in the player or the details button in a list, or
On Mac: Right-click on the song title bar or row in a list and choose Get Info to reveal Tune info - Tap Edit to adjust the BPM and time signature.
BPM
When editing you will see Reload From File, Recalculate and Tap buttons and can edit it directly in the BPM value box.
- Anytune first retrieves the time signature from meta data embedded in the audio file.
- If this is not available the BPM is calculated by analyzing the song.
- You can also edit it manually or Tap to set the the BPM overriding the meta data or calculation. To use the Tap feature start playback of the song and the choose tap. Tap to the beat of the song while it is playing to set the tempo of the song.
Time Signature
The time signature defaults to 4/4 time. Select the list button to choose some standard signatures including 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4 (3+2), 5/4 (2+3), ... . You can also edit the numerator and denominator as text for complex signatures like 5/4 (3+2).
iPhone
The Count-In window will appear and display the number of bars remaining and each beat in the bar.
Cancel the the count-in with the play button
Tap-In
Tap-In allows you to set the playback tempo by tapping the beats of a bar. You can Tap-In to start playback directly after your last tap or start the Count-In and display the Count-In display.
At the end of a bar of taps playback will start immediately in time (when the bars setting is set to 0/1 bars) or a the Count-In display will appear and Count-In (when the bars setting is set to 1 or more).
Tap-In can not be the default Playback behaviour.
