Sharing songs across devices

Anytune plays songs directly from your device's Music Library and plays audio files that have been imported directly into Anytune through Files Picker/Open-In, Dropbox, WiFi and Email.

Apple provides two ways to sync your Music Library across your devices.

1. Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music
2. Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer (USB, WiFi)

When you import a song directly into Anytune (using Record, Open-In, WiFi, Email, Files, Dropbox, ...) the audio file is stored in Anytune's private data. These songs are not shared across devices.

You must Export these songs to a location accessible to your other device and Import them into Anytune, or add them to your device's music library.

Keep songs in a Dropbox or iCloud folder accessible to all your devices and import them into Anytune when you want to play them.

Your song files must be physically on your device (downloaded) and not DRM protected. Anytune cannot currently play streamed music (i.e Apple Music, Spotify).

Imported Songs

If you are not using iTunes Sync or iCloud Music Library you can import songs directly into Anytune from a shared location like iCloud or Dropbox that is accessible to all your devices.

iOS 

When you import a song directly into Anytune (Open-In, Record, ...) the audio file is stored in Anytune. The song is NOT stored in your device's music library and is not shared across devices.

You can share these songs with other apps on your device or export them to a shared location such as iCloud or Dropbox. You can then use iTunes to add them to your iTunes or iCloud Music Libraries where they are automatically shared across your devices.

Songs imported to Anytune are saved with Anytune in your system backup, but it always a good idea to have more than one location for important files.

Make a backup of your device using iCloud or iTunes.

Share an imported file across devices:

On source device: 

1. Play (load) the song you want to export
2. Tap the sharing button  
   Reveal the Share button on the iPhone by tapping Menu Button .
3. Choose "Export Song"
4. Select "Original Song"
5. Select "Open-In" the  Files app, Dropbox, ...
6. Tap the "Export File via Open-In" 
7. Choose "Save to Files", "Save to Dropbox", ....  

On target device: 

1. Go to the Tunes Category  .
2. Tap the green plus "+" button to reveal the Add menu.
3. Choose song's location and Tap the song to import

Mac

You can add songs to Anytune Mac by copying the audio file into Anytune or by referencing the file that exists on your Mac's filesystem. This behaviour can be changed in:

Anytune > Preferences > Advanced.

Songs that have been copied directly into Anytune on Mac are saved in a folder (container) on your Mac. This folder is not shared across devices.

To access the song:

1. Right-Click on the song > Choose Get Info

If the song has been copied into Anytune you can
Export Original Song...
to a shared location like iCloud or Dropbox, or into your iTunes library.

If the song is a reference you can use "Show in Finder" to find the file Anytune is using. Copy this file to a shared location like iCloud or Dropbox, or into your iTunes library.

Sharing Playlists

Anytune playlists (See Playlists and folders) can include songs imported directly into Anytune AND songs played from your iTunes or iCloud Music Library. Anytune playlist definitions are part of Anytune's Config and can be shared across your devices using iCloud. See Sharing song data (configs).

You can restore a playlist definition from one device to another if the songs in the playlist are available to Anytune. The songs must be in your device's music library or imported directly into Anytune.
