Anytune plays songs directly from your device's Music Library through the Songs, Playlists, Artists, Albums tabs in Anytune. These categories display the contents of your device's Music Library.
You can also import audio files directly into Anytune. See Importing songs.
Your song files must be physically on your device (downloaded) and not DRM protected. Anytune cannot currently play streamed music (i.e Apple Music, Spotify).
Ask Apple to allow Anytune access to Apple Music
Please go to apple.com/feedback/apple-music.html and open a "Feature Request" for the "Library" requesting that Anytune (and other music apps) be granted access to the audio file data.
Example suggestion: Hi Apple, I love Anytune.app and use it to become a better musician by listening to and playing along with my favorite songs. It would be fantastic if Anytune could play and process my Apple Music streamed songs. Please make Apple Music audio data available to Anytune. Thanks!
If you are missing a specific song or album, then it could be that:
- Apple Music is not sharing library information with Anytune
- Anytune has been Allowed Access to Media & Apple Music
- You have not sync'd the missing song(s) from iTunes/Finder to your device,
- the songs are in the cloud and have not been downloaded to your device, or
- Apple Music has removed downloaded songs when running low on storage.
You can Enable Show All Music to display songs that are in your library but need to be downloaded or purchased before Anytune can play them. This is a global setting that is available in the iTunes category songs lists.
First
Please Close and Restart Anytune, then try Restarting Your Device.
Sometimes Apple Music stops sharing library information and needs a little kick.
Download the song to your device
If you are using the iCloud Music Library:
- Open the Apple Music app.
- Tap the Library category.
- Find the song and Tap Download.

If the song is downloaded and still not displayed in Anytune:- Restart Anytune,
- Restart your device
- Re-sync to Finder/iTunes,
- Un-sync all songs and re-sync to Finder/iTunes.
Download All songs to your device
Downloading all your songs song by song or by Album is not fun! Once you have enabled Automatic Downloads your future is bright, but what about your past? To simplify this process you must use the iTunes or the Music app on your computer and create a single Playlist that contains all your songs.
On your computer in iTunes or the Music app:
- Click Files > New > Smart Playlist...
- Define a criteria of Time Greater than Zero Seconds and enable Live updating to include new songs.
- Give the playlist a name like All Songs or Sync
On your iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Apple Music app.
- Download the new Playlist and download all your songs in one step.
There are a few YouTubes demonstrating this process, such as How to: Download entire Apple Music library in 2 steps!
Confirm the song is on your device
To ensure the song has been added to your Music Library:
- Open the Apple Music app.
- Tap the Library category.
- Choose " Downloaded Music" and find the song.
- Tap the song to reveal the Playback view.
- Tap the more button ...
and ensure you don't see Download and you do see Delete from Library.
You can also confirm a song is on your device by using the Apple's Settings app
- Open Apple's Settings app
- Go to Music > Downloaded Music
- Find the song. If the song is there it is on your device.
You can delete songs from your device and download them again.
From the Settings app:
- Open Apple's Settings app.
- Go to Music > Downloaded Music.
- Tap Edit to delete song from your device.
Disable Music > Optimize Storage
Your song files must be physically on your device (downloaded) to be played by Anytune. If a song that has played suddenly cannot be played by Anytune it may have been removed by Apple Music. Disable this feature to avoid songs being automatically removed from your device.
- Open Apple's Settings app > Music > Optimize Storage
- Disable Optimize Storage
Allow Anytune access to your Music Library
You will be prompted to explicitly allow Anytune access to you device's music library the first time. Anytune will have read only access to your music library. Anytune cannot add, delete or change your Music Library.
If the Music categories Songs, Playlists, Artists and Albums are empty:
- Open Apple's Settings app
- Choose Anytune > Media & Apple Music or Enable Media Library > Toggle ON
- Choose Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Media & Apple Music > Allow
-or- depending on version of iOS
Choose General > Restrictions > Media & Apple Music or (Privacy) Media Library > Toggle ON - Restart Anytune
