Anytune will try to tell you why it cannot play a song with a message
"Import Failed" (MOVPKG)
Anytune may report "Import Failed" if the song is not in an expected format.
Apple has introduced a new file/package type called MOVPKG.
We are currently investigating how to open these files to extract the audio component. Anytune will report "Import Failed" and cannot play the file.
MOVPKG is used by Apple Music for high-resolution video and audio files. If lossless audio is enabled for the Apple Music app a MOVPKG file may be downloaded and will not be playable by Anytune.
Workaround
Disable "Lossless Audio" in Settings > Apple Music > Audio Quality:
- Open Apple's Settings app
- Scroll down and select Apple Music
- Tap Audio Quality
- Disable "Lossless Audio"
You will need to delete MOVPKG files from your device.
Tap on the Song Title to reveal Tune Info to view the File type
Anytune can play MP3, AIFF, WAV, MPEG4, AAC (M4A) files and audio from common video formats. The song files must be downloaded to your device and must not be DRM Protected.
"Song Not Supported or Corrupt"
We have received a few messages from users who have not been able to play some files ripped from the internet.
These files appear to be corrupt in a strange way. They are not playable on Anytune, the Music app or Audacity. The source may have changed enough to confuse the ripping app, resulting in a badly formed audio file. Looking inside these files, it appears they are actually video files with the video track removed.
These files may play on the system players but Anytune cannot extract the audio data and play these files.
Workaround
Converting the files to a different or same type has fixed the corrupt files we have encountered.
You could use https://cloudconvert.com/ to change a corrupt MP3 to a new MP3 which is now playable.
"Song Missing"
Anytune plays songs directly from your device's music library. If a song is removed or un-synced from your device, it must be re-downloaded or re-synced. If the song's Title, Artist or Album has changed Anytune will not be able to find the song. Apple Music or iMatch may download a matched song with different song "details" than your original song, or you may have edited these details in iTunes.
Use Locate Song... to connect your Anytune entry containing your song data to the correct song file.
See Songs are missing on iPhone or iPad.
"Song Protected"
Anytune cannot play songs "protected" by Digital Rights Management (DRM). This includes songs streamed through any Apple Music (Spotify, etc) subscriptions. Songs must be downloaded to your device to determine if they are protected.
See Cannot play Protected songs.
Using the iCloud Music Library may cause songs on your device to be overwritten with DRM versions, making them unplayable on Anytune, even songs that you own and that were previously playable.
"Song Not Playable / Unsupported Song"
The song cannot be played because it is the wrong type or is corrupt. Please delete this file from Anytune.
